In response to the concerns raised by the heavy accumulation of snow and ice on roofs in this region, there have been a variety of efforts by communities, individuals, and businesses to alleviate the conditions.
In addition, reports of roof collapses continue to come in (including a chicken coop collapse in Lebanon, CT, that killed 85,000 chickens; a barn roof collapse in Putney, VT, that killed ten calves and trapped dozens of others; and a barn roof collapse in Colrain, MA, that killed four head of cattle).
