The month of June is being observed as PTSD Awareness Month,
designed to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder, a mental
health problem that may develop after a person has been exposed to one
or more traumatic events. Persons suffering from this illness include
members of our armed services, police officers, firefighters, and others
afflicted by terrorism, natural or man-made disasters, and other
threats on a person's life.
