On the Food Bank Ministry of Springfield, MA, Business

"Ever since he opened Jim's Auto Trim a decade ago, owner Jim Kahle decided he would reserve a spot in the lobby for food donations. . . .

"At first he would collect the food and when he had enough he would bring it to the Open Pantry Community Services, but over the years there was so much food that he got on the Open Pantry's pick up route. . . .

"They started collecting so much food that there is now a bucket outside his store at 1576 State St. in case people want to drop off items when the shop is closed.

"In collaboration with customers, Kahle has collected just over 55,000 pounds of food for the Open Pantry."
