National Library Week

This week, the week of 4-10 April, is being observed as National Library Week. This year's theme is "Welcome to Your Library." This theme is designed to promote the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building - and that everyone is welcome to use their services.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is designed to be a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries – public, school, academic, and special – and librarians and to promote library use and support.

As part of this celebration, today, 6 April, is being observed as National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
