New England’s Fire Service Heritage: Ephraim Thayer

During the early days of this nation, an apprentice of Paul Revere, one Ephraim Thayer, became a well-know builder of fire engines, Over the course of his career (1794-1811), Mr. Taylor built thirty hand pumpers.

The first engine that Mr. Taylor built, which was used from 1793 to 1808, is currently on display at the Boston Fire Museum.
