Lyme Disease Awareness Month

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Lyme disease, caused by a bacterium transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks, is named after Lyme, CT, where a number of cases were identified in the mid-1970’s. Cases of Lyme disease have been found in each of the fifty states.
