The first of January, New Year's day, is observed by the Church as the World Day of Peace. This year's theme is "Slaves No More, But Brothers and Sisters."
In his 2015 Message for the World Day of Peace, Pope Francis encourages us to forge a new worldwide solidarity and fraternity capable of giving our brothers and sisters throughout the world new hope and helping them to advance with courage amid the problems of our time and the new horizons which they are facing and which God places in our hands.
