Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of family blueberry-picking adventures.

Cerith Gardiner on St. Joseph as a Regular Dad

"As March 19 is the feast day of St. Joseph, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on his saintly life. We're often inspired by Jesus' earthly father for his deep faith, humility, and devotion - but beyond his impressive virtues, he was also a regular dad. Although, admittedly, he wouldn't have had to take a young Jesus to soccer practice, he was a loving, hardworking, and protective father.

"In fact Joseph's life offers us practical examples of what it means to care for a family every day.. . ."

In a recent commentary using the example of this event, writer Cerith Gardiner reflected on some of the ways St. Joseph can be viewed as a regular dad..

Reflection Starter from Ephesians

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light, for light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth. Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord." - Ephesians 5:8-10

Cerith Gardiner on Deciding How to Donate Effectively

"It seems these days that every organization . . .  or even local individuals in need are asking for financial help. . . . And while your heart might want to lend a helping hand to all, when the appeals come flooding in from all directions it can feel a little overwhelming. After all, you're torn as you want to help as many people as possible, but often you might feel financially stretched yourselves.

"So how do we decide where our resources can make the best difference? (Although it's important to remember that charitable giving doesn't have to be financial; it can be sharing your time, know-how, or prayers.)"

In a recent commentary using the example of this event, writer Cerith Gardiner reflected on some of the ways one can choose charitable causes wisely.

Reflection Starter from St. Cyril of Jerusalem

"Let us then, my brethren, endure in hope. Let us devote ourselves, side-by-side with our hoping, so that the God of all the universe, as he beholds our intention, may cleanse us from all sins, fill us with high hopes from what we have in hand, and grant us the change of heart that saves. God has called you, and you have your calling." – Saint Cyril of Jerusalem (whose memory the Church celebrates today, 18 March)

Thank You, Lord

Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of those who greet others with a smile.

Br. Finbar Kantor, O.P., on Living Our Faith

"By his own testimony, Christ came that we might live fully (John 10:10). Anything less seems a waste. And I want to live. I want to really live. I don't want to live for things that, ultimately, don't fulfill. I want to live for those things that never fade (1 Cor 9:24-26).

"Living isn't ultimately about accomplishments, experiences, or accolades. Those things exist as a part of life, but they aren't the weighty things that stand at its center. Living fully is, instead, about being pointed towards the only worthwhile goal . . ."

In a recent commentary, Brother Finbar Kantor, O.P., reflected on what it mens to be fully alive.
