One of the treasures of New England is its place in the world of tennis. A number of people throughout this region play this sport, and it is the home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum and of the New Haven Open at Yale (also known as the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament).
The 2011 New Haven Open at Yale is scheduled take place 18-27 August at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University (45 Yale Avenue, New Haven, CT).
On this date in 1900, the United States beat Great Britain (then known as the British Isles) in the first Davis Cup tournament. The tournament was held at the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston, MA.
