"Kate Shmaruk figured her large plywood murals of the U.S.'s
20th century wars were long gone. After all, she hasn’t seen them in
nearly three decades, since they were displayed at a
Millville-Blackstone municipal building.
"But then Shmaruk got a call from the Knights of Columbus a few weeks
ago telling her that the organization and the American Legion were
planning a Purple Heart service on Memorial Day - and asking her
permission to show the 8-foot paintings along with it. She was thrilled.
"'They were all there, all intact, I guess in a back room of the
Legion,' Shmaruk told the Herald on Sunday. 'The last time we saw them
was 1991.'"
A recent Boston Herald article reported on the rediscovery of these murals.
