As is the case with other call (and volunteer) departments through out this region, fire departments on Cape Cod in Massachusetts have been finding it challenging to attract new on-call personnel. Potential recruits may be deterred by the time involved on the calls (most of which occur during the daytime) and for training, as well as being unable to leave work (or working too far away to leave work and arrive in a timely manner).
