ISO New England, the independent, not-for-profit corporation established by the federal government in 1997 to run the wholesale electricity markets across New England, recently identified five challenges facing New England’s power grid (including the integration of a greater level of variable resources, the potential retirement of aging resources, and the region’s increased reliance on natural gas) and their impact on the region.
