Friday, 11 November, is Veterans Day. A number of communities throughout this region are holding observances to honor the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. Some of these activities include:
CT: The Connecticut Veterans Parade was held in Hartford on Sunday; the parade stopped at 1:30 PM for Moment of Silence with a tolling of the Center Church bell and a rendition of the national anthem. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park preceded the parade.
ME: Bangor will hold a Veterans Day parade beginning at 10:15 AM.
MA: The Town of Acton will be unveiling a new veteran memorial on Friday at 10:00 AM in front of Town Hall.
NH: Veterans were honored at a special breakfast hosted by students at Woodbury School, Salem.
RI: The Salvatore Mancini Resource and Activity Center will hold a Veterans Day Celebration on Friday at 10:30 AM; the event will include entertainment with the Navy Band Northeast’s Brass Quintet and Frank Castle with the members of the 107th Signal Company.
VT: Throughout this week, veterans are visiting each of the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union schools to speak with students.
