“‘I loved playing baseball,’ the Wakefield 82 year old tells us, reflecting back on a unique era of professional ball.
“But in the year leading up to ‘Briggsie’ becoming a $60 a week pro, she broke a Rhode Island barrier, long before Title 9 created athletic opportunities for girls.”
