"A life-size bronze statue of a red-haired, freckled Archie will soon greet visitors to a Lakes Region town.
"Meredith
erected the iconic comic book character in honor of the local man who
spent decades drawing him and his group of wholesome teenage friends.
"Bob
Montana illustrated Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead from 1942 until
his death in 1975. He lived in Meredith for 35 years until he died from
a heart attack at age 54 while cross-country skiing."
A recent article in the Concord Monitor reported on the presentation of this statue, which will be commemorated on Thursday, 9 August in Community Park, Meredith, NH, coinciding with the town's 250th anniversary.
