During this time of year, not much thought is given to wildfires in this region. Although there may be a perception that wildfire is, relatively speaking, not much of a threat in this area, one can strike almost anytime, almost anywhere.
With this in mind and with the awareness that many homes (even in New England) are in areas where a wildfire can easily extend to them, the National Fire Protection Association Firewise Communities program (which is co-sponsored by the USDA Forest Service, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the National Association of State Foresters) is offering a “12 Days of Firewise” wildfire safety tip sheet and a series of videos (12 Days of Firewise), designed to provide easy steps one can follow as holiday preparations are made.
