November has been designated as Critical Infrastructure
Protection and Resilience Month, an observance designed to recognize the
importance of protecting the nation’s infrastructure resources and enhancing
national security and resilience.
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
critical infrastructure refers to the physical and cyber systems and assets so
vital to the United States that their incapacity or destruction would have a
debilitating impact on the nation’s physical or economic security or public
health or safety. Eighteen critical infrastructure sectors have been identified
by the Department:
