"It's easy to forget about the fire department - until you need it.
"That's
why Beverly Petrelis, a member of the Bennington Historical Society,
created a display in December in the Corridor Art Gallery of
Southwestern Vermont Medical Center to honor volunteer firefighters.
"'The
main thing for this display is to honor these people, because they've
been serving this community since 1850,' Petrelis said. 'We've always
had a volunteer fire department all those years in Bennington.'
"Petrelis created the display on behalf of the historical society."
