This week, the week of 22-28 September, is being observed as Rail Safety
Week 2019. very year, 2,100 North Americans are killed or seriously
injured when they engage in unsafe behavior around tracks and trains.
The goal of Rail Safety Week is to raise awareness of the need for rail
safety education and empower the general public to keep themselves safe
near highway-rail grade crossings and railroad rights-of-way.
Law enforcement partners are assisting in Rail Safety Week
through Operation Clear Track. During Operation Clear Track, more than
500 local, state, federal and railroad police organizations have been
stationed at grade crossing and trespassing incident locations in 48
states.
