A New England public servant servant recently died in the line of duty, a reminder of the hazards and stresses faced by the members of the region’s public safety services. Firefighter Matthias Wirtz, 46, a 22 year veteran of the North Haven, CT, Fire Department, died when he suffered a medical emergency while operating at the scene of a residential structure fire in North Haven on 26 December.
