In a recent commentary, Monsignor Charles Pope (pastor of Holy Comforter-Saint Cyprian Parish, Washington, DC) reflected on the importance of perseverance in our prayer for those souls - relatives, friends, and others - for whom we are praying, especially when we are praying for their return to or their turning to the Lord.

I know someone that was going in a very wrong direction who was prayed for and is now going to daily Mass! Sometimes it takes time. Like the old Spiritual says, You took a long time a comin’ but You got here right on time.
