New England is a treasure house filled with many different types of spiritual, cultural, historical, and other resources. Included in this treasure trove is a rich mixture of athletic and other recreation opportunities.
When I was growing up in Connecticut, my siblings and I (as well as some friends) played Wiffle ball - which is basically baseball with a specially designed plastic ball. It "just so happens" that the Wiffle ball was invented by a Connecticut resident - David Mullaney of Fairfield - in 1953.
