Although the remnants of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene has left the region, local (as well as state and federal) government agencies, utility companies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and residents are facing the challenge of cleaning up and restoring a sense of normalcy to New England and beyond.
On a more somber note, among the storm’s fatalities in New England were Southbridge, MA, Public Works employee, Richard V. Gorgone, and Rutland, VT, Water Treatment Plant Supervisor Michael Garofano. May they rest in peace.
