Throughout New England, there are a number of efforts to provide for the needy in a special way during the holiday season. These efforts include (among others) initiatives by parishes and other faith-based communities, non-profit social service organizations, municipal government agencies, and concerned individuals.
in one such initiative, the Town of Lincoln, RI, operates a Holiday Baskets Program to provide food baskets for the needy at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The program has been expanded to include a “Giving Tree,” which supplies children (between birth and age fifteen) with toys and other gifts.
