In the Philippines, a National Mass of Thanksgiving was recently held to thank God for the canonization of Saint Pedro Calungsod. Concelebrating the Mass were four cardinals, 54 bishops, and over 700 priests; and over one million people (including President Benigno Aquino III, Vice President Jejomar Binay, and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas) participated in the liturgy.
St. Pedro, a native of Cebu, was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on 21 October.
