Literature from Massachusetts: Nathaniel Hawthorne

New England is a treasure house filled with many different types of spiritual, cultural, historical, and other resources. Included in this treasure trove is a rich mixture of literature - including writers from this region and literary works set in this region.

One such writer is Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864), a native of Salem, Massachusetts. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Mr. Hawthorne wrote a number of novels and short stories (including The House of the Seven Gables and The Scarlet Letter).
