In Fitzwilliam, NH, the nonprofit regional Meadowood County Area Fire Department operates a fire service training school. For some time it also responded to fires and other emergencies in its area.
However, in order to be recertified by the New Hampshire Division of Fire Standards and Training and Emergency Medical Services, the department was advised,earlier this year, that it must be affiliated with a local community.
This led to a process of restructuring the department, a work still in progress.
