Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

Today (4 January) the Church celebrates the memory of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, whose was the first canonized saint born in what is now the United States (in New York City on 28 August 1774). She also founded the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph, the first community for religious women established in the United States and began St. Joseph's Academy and Free School in Emmitsburg, MD.
