In a recent Connecticut General Assembly Public Safety and Security Committee public hearing regarding a bill that would mandate sprinklers in all new homes, fire marshals from several communities stated the measure would save untold lives. However, members of the Home Builders Association of Connecticut told the committee that the requirement would add significant costs without reducing the number of fire deaths.
