A statewide challenge, Commute Green New Hampshire, will be held next week (16-20 May) with hundreds of bicycle commuters of all abilities and ages participating in an effort to reduce single occupant vehicle miles driven by 50,000 miles.
The bicyclists, as well as carpoolers, walkers, and public transportation use commuters, are part of business, school, and municipal teams. The event is open to individuals or teams. To participate, all an individual has to do is start commuting green for any part of the week (16-20 May), register and log his or her miles at http://www.commutegreennh.org/. Just for registering, individuals will be rewarded with discount coupons from great entertainment venues, restaurants and shops around the state. (The registration deadline is today, 13 May.)
Commute Green New Hampshire is also running a weekly photo contest for Facebook fans. Individuals are asked to post photos of themselves commuting green at http://www.facebook.com/CommuteGreen. The photo that receives the most "likes" each week will win a $25 gift card of the winner's choice.
