Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Board Member Academy

The Day of New London, CT, recently reported that Old Saybrook Board of Education member Eileen Baker recently achieved the level of Master Board of Education Member in the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) Board Member Academy for the 2010-11 school year.

Bases on the premises that only informed decision-makers make sound decisions and that meeting the many responsibilities of school board members demands possession of a wide variety of skills, knowledge and abilities, the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education created a Board Member Academy to provide education board members with the knowledge and expertise needed to enhance their roles as school leaders in their communities.

The Academy is a unique accreditation program designed to deliver high quality training. The in-service program focuses workshops, conferences, and other training opportunities on leadership skills of board members. The program offers two levels of accreditation – Certified Board of Education Member and Master Board of Education Member.
