One of the treasures of New England is its musical heritage. Among the region’s many musical offerings are the number of concerts that are held to raise funds for a specific cause or that are held to honor a specific group. An example (technically - four examples) of this can be found in New Britain, CT, where the New Britain Parks and Recreation Department is planning four free veterans concerts designed to honor members of the military both past and present. Performers include the U.S. Navy Band Northeast’s Showband, the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty’s Rock Horn Band, the U.S. Army Field Band’s “Volunteers”, and the U. S. Army Field Band’s “Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus.”
The Parks and Recreation Department is still seeking sponsors for the shows. The first two concerts will take place at Walnut Hill Park on 16 and 25 August. Tickets for the other two concerts, to be held at Trinity-on-Main and New Britain High School on 30 October and 11 November (Veterans Day), are free but mandatory. They are available on a limited basis from the Parks and Recreation Department.
