This week, the week of 12-16 April, is being observed as Cold Water Safety Awareness Week, a National Weather Service initiative designed to raise awareness of the dangers of immersion in cold water (including cold shock affecting a person within one minute, incapacitation within ten minutes, and hypothermia with one hour).
