Pope John Paul II and the Divine Mercy

Today (Divine Mercy Sunday) Pope John Paul II is being beatified. This day was chosen because of his strong connection to and promotion of the Divine Mercy message (not the least of which was the canonization of Saint Faustina Kowalska).

"The Message of Divine Mercy has always been near and dear to me . . . which I took with me to the See of Peter and which it in a sense forms the image of this Pontificate." – Pope John Paul II (speaking on his Pontificate)
