Among the treasures of New England are the museums referred to in one of yesterday's posts. These museums include a number of "living history" museums. A "living history" museum is a museum in which costumed interpreters portray life as it was lived in an earlier time.
One example of such a museum is Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Old Sturbridge Village is designed to recreate the daily work activities and community celebrations of a rural 19th-century town in authentic fashion. Characters include farmers, blacksmiths and other craftsmen, and merchants.
