One of the treasures of New England is the people and their efforts (individually and/or as part of an organized initiative) to assist people in our region and beyond. One such example is the Dedham, MA, Youth Commission’s sponsoring of RISE, a free four-week program for all incoming high school freshman as a way to help in the high school transition, both academically and socially. Planned daily sessions include a reading and writing course, college and career awareness activities, social workshops, and recreational activities.
