The National Fire Protection Association recently examined a significant challenge facing the fire service as well as the fire alarm industry – unwanted alarms: alarms triggered by (among other things) burnt food (on the stove, in conventional or microwave ovens, or in toasters), dust, welding, and problems with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
An article in the current issue of NFPA’s Fire Journal reviewed some of NFPA’s findings and discussed some of the solutions being tried or being considered to meet this challenge.
