The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officers offers Awards of Merit in Housing and Community Development in order, among other reasons, to give national recognition to innovative housing and community development projects, programs. Award of Merit winners are announced NAHRO's Summer Conference (to be held this year in Louisville, KY, 28-30 July).
The Lowell, MA, Housing Authority recently announced that its Learning Zone program, designed to aid low-income students with schoolwork, with be a recipient of one of this year's Merit Awards. (This definitely qualifies as one of New England’s treasures.)
