New Bedford, MA, General Alarm Fire Destroys Two Multi-family Structures

A general alarm fire destroyed two tenement buildings and damaged a third in New Bedford, MA, on Friday, 8 July.

The fire started in a three-story wood residential building at 92 Grinnell Street and spread to a similar structure at 305 South Second Street. A structure at 307 South Second Street received some damage.

The initial alarm was transmitted at 2313 hours, and the fire was reported under control at 0344 the next morning. The New Bedford Fire Department was assisted by companies from Acushnet, Dartmouth, and Fairhaven.
